What is the difference between Flexible Ticket and Cancel for Any Reason?

Both Flexible Ticket and Cancel for Any Reason (CFAR) are optional add-ons designed to give you more control over your booking, but they cover different situations.

The Flexible Ticket is for when you want to change your travel dates. If your plans shift and you need to fly on different dates, the Flexible Ticket covers the airline's penalty fee for the change, which can be as high as $150 or more. You will still need to pay any fare difference if your new flight costs more than the original. Date change requests must be submitted at least 72 hours before departure through the Flight Changes feature in MyArea.

Cancel for Any Reason (CFAR) is for when you want to cancel your booking entirely. It allows you to cancel your trip for any reason, no justification needed, and receive compensation either as a cash refund or a travel voucher. CFAR must be used within the timeframe specified in the terms and conditions.

In short: choose Flexible Ticket if you think you might need to change when you fly. Choose CFAR if you think you might need to cancel altogether. If you want maximum protection, you can purchase both.

Neither option can be added after the booking has been completed. Both must be selected during the checkout process before finalizing your payment.

Keep in mind that neither Flexible Ticket nor CFAR replaces travel insurance. For comprehensive protection that also covers medical emergencies, lost baggage, and trip interruptions, we recommend pairing these add-ons with a travel insurance policy.
