What Your Role Involves

As a Data Engineer in our online travel company, you will play a strategic role in managing and enhancing the data architecture for our flight sales operations. Every day, you’ll tackle the challenge of organizing and optimizing large data flows to support decision-making and product improvement. We’re looking for someone passionate about data, systems, and analytics who thrives in a dynamic environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, construct, test, and maintain architectures, such as large-scale data processing systems and databases, ensuring they are scalable and efficient to support our business needs.

  • Manage and improve data pipelines, enhancing the performance and reliability of data collection, integration, and transformation processes across various sources.

  • Collaborate with data scientists and business analysts to assist in data-related technical issues and support their data infrastructure needs, enabling advanced analytics and reporting.

  • Uphold data quality and ensure adherence to governance and compliance standards when handling sensitive data related to flight sales and customer interactions.

  • Explore and integrate cutting-edge data storage, processing, and analytics technologies, positioning our company at the forefront of data-driven strategies in the travel industry.

  • Proactively identify opportunities for data acquisition and new uses for existing data, contributing to the development of innovative products and services for our customers.

What You'll Need to Succeed

  • Demonstrable experience in data engineering with a successful track record of designing and operating large-scale data infrastructures.

  • Proficiency in programming languages used in data engineering, such as Python, Scala, or Java, and experience with SQL and NoSQL databases.

  • Expertise in building and optimizing ‘big data’ pipelines, architectures, and data sets, with a strong understanding of various ETL techniques and frameworks.

  • Knowledge of cloud services and infrastructure (AWS, Azure, GCP) as they pertain to data storage, computing, and analytics services.

  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to apply quantitative reasoning to complex data problems and communicate findings effectively.

  • A team player with excellent collaboration skills, capable of working with cross-functional teams to define and solve data-related challenges.
