What if my flight is overbooked and I am denied boarding?
Airlines sell more seats than the aircraft holds, expecting no-shows. When everyone turns up, someone is denied boarding.
If it is you, go straight to the airline's desk. They are responsible for looking after you and getting you to your destination, starting with rebooking on the next available flight. Depending on the route and the length of the delay, you may also be entitled to meals, communications, and a hotel if you are stuck overnight. Ask at the desk.
Before leaving the airport, get written confirmation from the airline that you were denied boarding, with the reason and flight details. Any later claim rests on that document. Keep receipts for anything you pay for.
Where compensation is due for denied boarding, the operating airline owes it and pays it, and you claim it from them directly. Amounts and conditions depend on the route, the reason and the rules of the jurisdiction, all of which sit with the airline, not with us. As a booking intermediary, Farera cannot assess, process or pay denied-boarding compensation.
Your booking documents, if the airline asks for them, are in MyArea.
