What happens if I miss my flight?

Airlines treat a missed flight as a no-show, and what happens next depends on your fare.

On most discounted fares, a no-show forfeits the ticket and no refund is due. Some fares leave residual value, usually in taxes.

The bigger surprise is the rest of your itinerary. When your flights sit on one reservation, missing one commonly leads the airline to cancel everything after it, including your return. When they sit on separate reservations with different booking references, only the missed flight is affected.

We cannot override an airline's no-show rules. What we can do, and you authorise us to do at booking, is pursue whatever refund the airline will release on the unused ticket. Anything we recover is paid out, after our handling fee, as a voucher in your name. You have 30 days from the voucher's issue to ask us to convert it into a cash refund to your original payment method; after that it stays a voucher. It is personal, non-transferable and valid for 12 months.

If you already know you will miss the flight, tell us before departure. The options before departure are always wider than after.
