Flexible Traveler: changing who travels
Flexible Traveler lets you replace the passenger named on a ticket with someone else. It's an optional add-on bought at the time of the original booking, per passenger, and it applies only to the passenger it was bought for. It isn't an insurance product.
Activate it in MyArea at least 72 hours before departure. We can't process requests after that.
Once you activate it, we check whether the airline will change the name on the existing ticket. If they won't, we cancel that ticket and issue a new one for the replacement passenger on the same flight: same airline, route, date and time, with only the traveler changing.
You pay any difference between the original fare and the fare available for the new ticket. Extras attached to the original ticket, such as baggage and seats, don't transfer.
Activating it voids any Flexible Ticket and Cancel for Any Reason on the booking.
Flexible Traveler works once per eligible passenger. If the airline allows the name change but the same flight isn't available for the new passenger, you can keep your original booking unchanged instead. It can't be used after an airline cancellation, airline insolvency or cessation of operations, or in force majeure events, and it's non-refundable.
